Great Wakering & District Royal British Legion Branch No: BR0485

About the Legion:

The Royal British Legion is the UK’s leading Service charity. It provides practical care, advice and support to serving members of the Armed Forces, veterans of all ages and their families.

What it does:

It provides practical, emotional and financial support to all members of the British Armed Forces past and present, and their families. It actively campaigns to improve their lives and safeguard the Military Covenant between the Nation and its Armed Forces.

It also organises the Poppy Appeal, runs one of the UK’s largest membership organisations and is recognised as the nation’s custodian of Remembrance.

Whether it’s families coping with the loss of a loved one, help at home to adapt to independent living, recovery centres for injured personnel, money and careers advice or residential care: they are here to help.

Nearly 9 million people are eligible to access its welfare services and it aims to help the most in need.

As the legacy of Afghanistan and Iraq combine with defence cuts, strains on public sector support and a peak in welfare demand from older veterans; the Service community is facing a perfect storm of health and welfare needs in the coming years. The Royal British Legion is there to support them.
